Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah fell desperately short of steering Bangladesh to a consolation win in a match of wafer-thin margins

With four runs needed off the last ball, Ariful Haque swung Rashid Khan towards long-on. Were Bangladesh going to deny Afghanistan a 3-0 whitewash? Not quite. With two athletic interventions at the boundary, Shafiqullah prevented the ball from going over the boundary for six and then from rolling past it for four. Then the ball somehow made its way to the wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad before Bangladesh could complete the match-tying third run.This wasn’t quite over, though. The third umpire was called in to see if Shafiqullah had stepped beyond the boundary when he flicked the ball back into the field of play. It was a matter of an inch, but he had not. Shahzad hit one more four before falling to a poor decision in the eighth over, given out leg-before to Nazmul Islam even though he had gloved a reverse-sweep. Shahzad’s opening partner Usman Ghani fell in the next over for 19 off 26 balls, caught behind trying to pull Abu Jayed.Asghar Stanikzai helped Bangladesh recover, hammering three sixes – two over long-on and one over cover – before falling to part-timer Ariful in the 13th over. Asghar made 27 off 17. Nabi’s dismissal in the 15th over, Mahmudullah taking a good diving catch at mid-off, was another crucial blow for Bangladesh but the in-form Samiullah Shenwari and Najibullah Zadran brought Afghanistan back with some big hits, taking a combined 26 off the 17th and 18th overs.Just when a total in excess of 150 looked likely, Bangladesh pulled them back with spin as Shakib and Nazmul conceded only 10 off the last two overs. The two left-arm spinners finished with a combined 3 for 34 in their eight overs, while Jayed was also impressive, using the short ball well to finish with 2 for 27.

Sunderland could be set to lose one of their most integral players next year, with a fresh report claiming that they are happy to cash in on him in January.

As per the same outlet as above, Burnley and Brentford are both preparing bids for the left-winger at the start of next year, and whilst the red and whites stripes stayed strong in their position before the previous transfer deadline, it sounds like they now have other ideas regarding the 22-year-old’s future.

According to Football Insider, who have shared a transfer update on Jack Clarke, Sunderland are holding out for a fee of more than £15m for their prized asset, but then would be willing to sell.

The Bees and Clarets are both once again name-checked as his two potential suitors, and it’s stated that the northeast outfit would be more than happy to sanction their attacker’s sale should they receive their desired fee in January.

The York-born talent has recorded 38 crosses and 21 shots in the second-tier so far this term, both of which are higher than any of his fellow teammates (FBRef – Sunderland statistics), showing what a standout star he is when it comes to creating opportunities.

Furthermore, Mowbray’s dynamo is a versatile operator having been deployed in six different positions over the pitch since the start of his career, including three roles across the frontline and the same number in the midfield, so his ability to adapt makes him a wonderful option for any manager to have at their disposal.

Whilst Clarke is a “golden” player that Sunderland should want to retain the services of, as hailed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, it’s easy to understand that they could be tempted to cash in should they receive a respectable offer, so this will be a situation to keep a close eye on in the weeks and months ahead.

وتابع: “هذا الأمر أدى إلى ما حدث مع أحمد رفعت، شاب كل خطأه أنه وثق في مسؤولين، ضحكوا عليه واستغلوا طيبته ورغبته في الاحتراف، فانتهى به الحال أنه تعرض للضغط النفسي وواضح أنه عانى من اكتئاب، وكان يجب على ناديه إعداده نفسيًا بشكل جيد قبل العودة للعب مرة أخرى، لأن الضغط النفسي مع المجهود مع الصيام يمكن أن يؤدي إلى السقوط الذي حدث للاعب”.

وأردف: “وبقدرة قادر عاد اللاعب معافى بعد أزمته ليوصل رسالة ويحملكم أمانة أن تمسكوا بالخيط الذي يوصلكم للحقيقة، نتحدث عن واقعة أدت إلى وفاة شاب مظلوم بسبب طمع وجشع بعض المسؤولين، فرصة العمر أمامنا أن يكون مشهد أحمد رفعت هو الأخير لهؤلاء المسؤولين الذين تسببوا في دمار الكرة المصرية الفترة الماضية، ليس في الكرة فقط، في العمل العام بالكامل، لأن هؤلاء الناس أذوا مصر وأذوا الشباب العاملين معهم لكي يجنوا ثورات ويخرجون بأكبر مكاسب ممكنة من مناصبهم”.

واستكمل: “لقد اتخذت قرارًا في وقت سابق بألا أتحدث عن المشاكل والأزمات لأنه لا يوجد أمل، لكن عندما يتعلق الأمر بحياة البني أدمين وأرى حلقة صنعت كمتابعة لتصريحات لاعب مات، يجب أن نخرج من تلك الحلقة بمكاسب، كتوصيل الحقيقة للناس، والإمساك بخيط يوضح المخطأ ومن المتسبب في وفاة اللاعب ومن المتسبب في الضرر النفسي الذي تعرض له، ولكن هذا لم يحدث، بل حلقة إبراهيم فايق باستضافة نادر شوقي ومداخلات أحمد دياب وشقيق ومحامي أحمد رفعت، تسببت في ضياع الحقيقة”.

وتساءل ميدو: “من المسؤول الذي كذب على وزارة الشباب والرياضة وقال لهم إن اللاعب كان مغادرًا لقضاء فترة معايشة؟ هذا تزوير وخداع، تحاول خداع القوات المسلحة! تضحك على الجيش؟! فبالتأكيد الخطاب لم يُقبل وبدأت الأزمة فما كان من المسؤولين إلا أنهم أعطوا ظهرهم لـ رفعت، ولم يردوا على اتصالاته”.

وأشار: “تلك هي الحقيقة وهذه حقيقتهم وأسلوبهم، وأعلم أن تلك القصة ستنسى، البعض حولنا يرتكز في حياته على نسيان الناس، حق أحمد رفعت سيأتي في اليوم الذي سنقف فيه جميعًا أمام الله، هؤلاء ناس لم يظلموا لاعب واحد بل ظلموا مئات اللاعبين وأندية على مدار السنتين الماضيتين”.

واستكمل طارحًا سؤالًا: “متى ظهر أسلوب (سيب وانا أسيب) في الرياضة المصرية؟ العامين الماضيين، الفاسدون وصلوا لقمة هرم إدارة الكرة في مصر، ووصلوا بجدارة ونجاح، وهذا ما أتحدث عنه منذ سنوات”.

واستأنف: “نادر شوقي وكيل اللاعب يقول إنه وقف وراء الكاميرات يحاول تحجيم أحمد رفعت خلال الحلقة الأخيرة للاعب، لماذا تحاول تحجيمه؟ لاعب مستقبله تدمر، كان على وشك الاحتراف في الإمارات فعاد إلى السجن وأعطاه المسؤولين ظهورهم”.

وأتم: “كل من وافق على ما حدث مع أحمد رفعت، ورط اللاعب، كل الأطراف مشتركة في تلك القصة، ولا يهمهم أي شيء إلا أن تنتهي السبوبة ويدهسون أي أحد مقابل هذا الهدف، فتخيل عندما يجتمع هذا الفجر مع القوة التي تأتي بالتقرب من بعض الناس، المال والقوة أمر لا يقدر عليه إلا الإنسان المتربي، وهؤلاء ليسوا على قدر كافي من التربية”.

TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has heaped praise on a reported West Ham United transfer target who they are apparently in pole position to sign.

Who could West Ham sign in January?

The winter transfer window is slowly approaching and manager David Moyes will see it as a prime opportunity to strengthen his Hammers ranks. There are currently a fair few players who look set to leave when their contracts expire next summer, a long list including the likes of Tomas Soucek, Pablo Fornals, Ben Johnson, Vladimir Coufal, Michail Antonio, Conor Coventry, Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski and Angelo Ogbonna (Transfermarkt).

Coufal, Antonio and Soucek's deals contain options for the club to extend by another year, but reports have suggested that the latter could still be sold in January if talks over a new and improved contract go nowhere (Football Insider). Elsewhere, it is rumoured that Fornals, Johnson and Coventry are set to leave in 2024; which could mean the east Londoners need to think about replacing them.

Amid doubts surrounding the futures of both Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma also, who are reportedly attracting big-money interest from Saudi Arabia, West Ham are believed to be eyeing up a new centre-half. Bayer Levekusen defender Edmond Tapsoba has been linked, while the Moyes could go back in for Man United defender Harry Maguire.

The England international, who has struggled under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford this last year, has been linked with a move to the London Stadium yet again very recently. Indeed, a West Ham transfer update from Football Insider this week claimed that West Ham are in pole position to sign Maguire if he decides to leave in January.

Now, talkSPORT's Agbonlahor has heaped praise on the 30-year-old amid these reports, claiming he would be the "perfect" man-for-man replacement for Zouma. Commenting on the latter player's exit links, Agbonlahor told Football Insider:

“That’s one I can picture happening. I don’t know when, but I can see Kurt Zouma in Saudi Arabia. He will know players who are over there playing, and the money will be just so hard to turn down.

“He’s approaching his thirties now, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him make that move in the near future. West Ham, then, would probably have to go back in for Maguire. It would be the perfect man-for-man replacement.”

While the Englishman hasn't exactly been on top form lately, ten Hag did call him a "dictating" player earlier this year, all while praising Maguire's attitude and application in training.

India women’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur defended herself against allegations that her graduation degree was fake, and said that had she known something was amiss, she would have “done graduation again, maybe two or three times over”.Harmanpreet had been appointed a Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Punjab government after her remarkable showing in the 2017 World Cup, which included a stunning 171 not out in the semi-final against Australia. However, reports emerged on July 2 that the Punjab police were set to demote her to the rank of a constable with the Chaudhary Charan Singh University of Meerut saying Harmanpreet’s enrollment number did not exist in their records.Harmanpreet, who had initially refused to comment on the reports, defended herself on Tuesday and pointed out that she had even been accepted into a postgraduate course on the basis of her graduation degree, although her blossoming cricket career meant she could never complete her postgraduate degree.”When you did your graduation, did you go to the head office to verify your enrollment number? Nobody does that,” Harmanpreet told the . “If I am playing, my focus is obviously on cricket. Apart from that, I just wanted to complete my graduation. On the basis of my graduation certificate, I took admission for a post-graduation course in a different university, but could never take my exams because of overseas tournaments. Today, that very degree is being called fake.”Harmanpreet also said that so far the Punjab police had not communicated officially with her about the speculated demotion in rank. “The department should initiate action against me. Besides, as the college principal had changed, and they did not like me pursuing sports, they did not adjust exam timings as per my cricket schedule. So, I had to migrate to another university. I have been playing for India after completing my Class XII.”I have cleared all my exams and my every certificate is legal. My examination centre used to be in Delhi. My subjects were sociology, political science, English and general awareness.”Harmanpreet, 29, made her debut for India in 2009 a day before her 20th birthday on March 7. She has played two Tests, 87 ODIs and 83 T20Is, and is also an Arjuna Award winner. She is in 12th spot on the ICC rankings for batsmen in women’s ODIs, and on seventh for the corresponding T20I list. She took over as the full-time T20I captain in October 2016 and her skills have put her in demand in T20 leagues around the world; she has played in the Women’s Big Bash League for two seasons and signed for the Kia Super League for the 2018-19 edition, starting next week.

Arsenal are apparently eyeing another "top, top" striker alongside Brentford star Ivan Toney, with Mikel Arteta's transfer plans beginning to take shape.

Out of all the rumours circulating in regards to a potential new number nine, few names have been mentioned quite as much as Toney. While reports suggest the likes of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is a target for Arsenal, it appears Brentford's star is dominating the headlines right now. Currently serving a ban for alleged gambling breaches, the Englishman is set to return mid-way through January next year, with Arteta and co eyeing a move for Toney as they seek to add more firepower.

Scoring 20 league goals last season, the Bees star is currently one of England's most clinical frontmen, and he's been showered with praise by his manager Thomas Frank for being a "remarkable" striker.

“Ivan is amazing in many, many aspects,” Frank said.

"The way he copes with pressure and distractions is amazing. He’s been scoring goals, performing for the team and driving the team. He’s remarkable. I can only talk about the Ivan that I see every day around the place and he’s a fantastic person around the group. He’s got that unique emotional intelligence to be aware of all the players, and every staff member."

Toney is also being chased by the likes of Chelsea; looking set to become one of the Premier League's hottest commodities as we approach the January window.

Arsenal also want Watkins

Despite their serious interest in Toney for 2024, it is believed another Premier League striker is attracting Edu's attention as well. Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who has started the new season with real aplomb, is another name on their radar. That is according to journalist Chris Wheatley, who told ShotsTV (via The Boot Room) that Arsenal are big fans of Watkins.

“Arsenal like Ivan Toney, but they also like lots of other forwards in that position, Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa is, I think, another one of those players," said the reporter.

"They do like him, but, at the moment, that’s as far as it goes. It’s one to watch out for in January as Ivan Toney will be pushing for a move away from Brentford."

The Englishman has already scored five goals and assisted five others in nine of his league starts this term, standing out as their statistical best-performer per match according to WhoScored. Watkins has also been praised by Michael Owen, who called the 27-year-old a "top, top" player.

أوضح عامر حسين رئيس لجنة المسابقات في الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، تفاصيل الاجتماع الذي عقد للاتفاق على الموسم الجديد لبطولة الدوري المصري الممتاز.

وقال عامر حسين في تصريحات عبر قناة “إم بي سي مصر2” عن تفاصيل اجتماع الرابطة بشأن نظام الموسم الجديد: “تم عرض مقترح بأن يكون هناك موسم فاصل من 3 سنوات، وعرضنا فكرة الدوري البلجيكي والمكسيكي، أخذنا الفكرة لكن لم نأخذ التفاصيل، اقترحنا الدوري يكون من دور واحد، وبعد ذلك نقسم الفرق إلى مجموعتين، مجموعة تنافس على اللقب ومجموعة تنافس على البقاء، وسنوفر 8 جولات، ونعطي فرصة للأندية القوية أن تواجه بعضها مرتين”.

وأكمل: “نظام الدوري المصري الجديد سيوفر لنا 8 جولات، وسيجعلنا ننهي الدوري مع معظم الدوريات، خاصة أنه سيكون هناك كأس العالم للأندية والأفضل ننهي قبله، يتبقى أمر واحد فقط هو دوري السوبر ليج، الاتحاد الإفريقي لم يُعلن هل سيتم أم لا، هذا هو الإيفنت الوحيد الذ لم يتحدد موعده”.

هل الدوري الموسم الحالي سينتهي 18 أغسطس كما أعلن؟ أجاب: “نعم في نفس الموعد إن شاء الله”.

واستكمل: “الرابطة أعلنت أنه سيكون هناك اجتماع جمعية عمومية، وسيتم عرض أجندة الموسم المُقبل على الأندية، وسيتم اتخاذ القرارات المناسبة”.

وأوضح: “أنا ليس عضو في الرابطة أنا مُشرف على المسابقات”.

عن خطاب استاد القاهرة للرابطة بغلق الملعب للصيانة، وسبب تأخر رد الرابطة عليهم، قال: “نحن لم نتأخر في الرد، عندما وصل إلينا الخطاب قمت بالاتصال بـ وليد عبد الوهاب وأبلغته أن هناك 4 أندية تلعب على ملعب القاهرة وغلق الاستاد في هذا التوقيت سيكون صعبًا، ويجب أن يتم تأخير اتخاذ القرار”.

وأردف: “كولر أشاد بالمسؤولين على الاستاد، بعد 4 أيام فقط تم رفع كفائته، لا يوجد ملعب في العالم يتحمل هذا الضغط”.

هل بالفعل تمت إقالتك؟: “سؤال غريب، (لو كان في حاجة كنت هتتصل بيا ليه)، الموسم سينتهي وسنقدم تقريرًا، مؤكد أن الجميع علم أن المؤجلات لُعبت في وقتها، وبنهاية الموسم ستوجد رابطة جديدة، وستشكل لجنة مسابقات”.

وواصل: “أنا أرى الانتقادات شيء عادي، لكن هناك أشخاص على عدم دراية كافية، منهم من يقول إنني متواجد منذ 20 عاماً، ولم يتذكروا أنه هناك موسمين أنا كنت غير موجود بهما، موسم استمر 13 شهرًا والآخر استمر لشهر 10، ونحن جئنا ونُحاول حتى الآن حل المشاكل التي حدثت بسببهما والأندية تعرف مصلحتها جيداً”.

واستطرد: “كل نادي له مصلحة مختلفة ونحن نقوم بمهمة صعبة لأننا نصدر عقوبات على كل الأندية، وعندما يتعرض ناد لنتائج سلبية يتهمون الإدارة”.

وأشار: “من يقول إنني لم ألعب كرة يتواصون مع طلعت يوسف ونادي الكروم، ومن يقول إنني ليس لدي خلفية إدارية فأنا بدأت منذ فترة طويلة وأخذتها شيء فشيء، أنا كنت مدير الكرة في نادي الاتحاد ورئيس قطاع الناشئين، (أنا برد على الكلام إللي اتقال)”.

عن الانتقادات التي توجه لك بأنك عضو في اتحاد الكرة وعضو الرابطة ورئيس لجنة المسابقات ورئيس منطقة إسكندرية والمشرف العام على نادي سبورتينج؟: “أنا عضو في اتحاد الكرة، وكل عضو يتولى ملف، أما موضوع أنني رئيس منطقة الإسكندرية، فلا يوجد شيء اسمه رئيس منطقة، الموضوع تم إلغاءه”.

وأكمل: “المشرف على الكرة في سبورتينج ليس أنا، أنا مولود في النادي وأتواجد به دائمًا”.

لماذا تم استكمال مباراة بيراميدز وسموحة؟: “بسبب تضارب في التقارير، والرابطة رأت أن تأخذ الحل الأقرب للعدالة وأن تستكمل المباراة على وضعها”.
