Aston Villa fans demand the signing of Mings

[ad_pod ]

Aston Villa supporters may have just been dealt their biggest setback yet in their hopes of landing Tyrone Mings on a permanent deal.

The Sun claim that Villa are refusing to overpay for the 6 ft 5 defender as they eye up a move for Adam Webster.

Mings is rated at £4.5m per Transfermarkt but it’s likely a larger bid will have to be submitted in order to lure him away from Bournemouth. Danny Mills claimed last month that they may have to pay over £10m more than that.

Taking to Twitter after seeing the news, a host of Villa fans demanded that the club pay what’s required to bring him back to the club.

One supporter claimed that now was not the time to tighten the purse strings whilst another suggested discussions could go on until the final day of the window.

A further fan said that Mings would be worth every penny whilst one tweet said they wanted him back where he belongs.

The 26-year-old was a force for Villa last term after arriving on loan in January. Playing 18 times, he was instrumental in helping the club to achieve ten wins on the bounce and subsequently a play-off final victory at Wembley.

Here’s the best of what supporters have been saying.

Luton Town: Marc Bola could be the ideal James Justin replacement

After such a successful season in League One, it’s only normal for teams higher up the football pyramid to be interested in those Luton stars who helped them gain a second promotion, but one is clearly getting more attention than others.

James Justin enjoyed a breakout year with the Hatters as the versatile defender racked up three goals and eight assists in the league as well as being named in the EFL and PFA League One Team of the Year and being shortlisted for the EFL Young Player of the Year award, and such a season has attracted a lot of interest.

Luton Today claim that the 21-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Leicester City, Aston Villa and Stoke City, and as interest ramps up it’s looking increasingly likely that Justin will be departing Kenilworth Road this summer, but an interesting name has already been touted as the left-back’s replacement.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Hatters are very keen on Blackpool left-back Marc Bola, who after being released by Arsenal last year has had a solid season in his first year of professional football, and the 21-year-old could be a smart replacement for Justin.

Having come through the ranks at Arsenal and further impressed at Blackpool, Bola has proven to be a player with significant potential for an ambitious club in the Football League having made 43 appearances for the Seasiders in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting three, an impressive tally for a player playing in their first full season of professional football.

Of course, playing for Luton in the Championship would be a step-up for the defender, but playing with and against better quality players will be something that could raise Bola’s game, and with Justin potentially bringing in £7.5 million as per the report from Luton Today, the Blackpool man could be a smart replacement both on the pitch and in the financial books.

Luton fans, would Bola be a good replacement for Justin? Let us know!

Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate to sign Tanguy Ndombele

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are growing anxious about the potential signing of Tanguy Ndombele, hoping that the club can get any deal for the player over the line as soon as possible.

The Guardian reported on Sunday that Spurs remain confident of signing the Lyon midfielder, despite Juventus trying to move in on the player and bring him to Serie A.

The paper say that the 22-year-old’s preferred move is to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Should Spurs sell Kieran Trippier? Check out the for and against in the video below…

Ndombele is a four-cap international with France and operates as a defensively robust midfield enforcer with the Ligue 1 side.

If he signs he will likely compete with Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks for a starting spot in Pochettino’s regular starting eleven, with Football Insider reporting that his arrival could spell the end for Victor Wanyama at the club.

Spurs fans would love to see him at the club and are frustrated by the drawn out nature of the potential deal, demanding that the club bring the player to London in short order.

Crystal Palace fans react to Fabio Borini rumours

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to discuss rumours linking them with a move for AC Milan forward Fabio Borini.

Calciomercato reports that the Eagles are monitoring the Italian’s situation at the San Siro with a view to making a move for the 28-year-old, who only managed to score 16 goals in 111 Premier League appearances.

If Palace sell Wan Bissaka and Zaha, will they be in another relegation battle? One fan gives his opinion in the video below…

Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the man who Milan want to get at least €15m (£13.5m) for should he depart Serie A.

According to the report by Calciomercato, Borini likes the destination of Palace but we are only in the initial stage of a deal – no offer has even been made for the 5 foot 11 attacker yet.

He is by no means prolific judging by his aforementioned goal record, but Borini has once again caught the eye of an English side having already plied his trade for Liverpool and Sunderland previously.

Let’s take a look at what the Palace fans on Twitter have to say about links to the Italy forward…

Liverpool should take Philippe Coutinho back for footballing reasons above all

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

As reported exclusively by Calciomercato.it, Liverpool have made an offer to Barcelona of a two-year loan deal with an option to buy included for a sum of £88m – it is believed that Barcelona would prefer an outright sale without the two-year loan first.

The Brazil international has only been at the Camp Nou for around 18 months since his £142m move back in January 2018, and things really haven’t gone to plan for the attacking midfielder.

The 5 foot 8 midfielder was signed to be Andres Iniesta’s replacement in Catalonia, which isn’t an easy task by any means – the legendary Spaniard will go down as one of the best players to ever grace the game.

“The worst we’ve played all season” but “our most straightforward final since 2003” – a Liverpool fan reflects on the UCL final in the video below…

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde made the mission even harder by playing Coutinho in the wrong position on a number of occasions. Sport reveals here that Valverde even played the former Inter Milan man on the right wing, which effectively nullifies his best trait of cutting in on his right foot.

In the most recent blow, Coutinho has reportedly had his No.7 shirt taken by new arrival Antoine Griezmann.

Some Liverpool fans still hate Coutinho for the way in which he forced a move away – he handed in a transfer request and paid his own money towards the move – but for footballing reasons only, the Reds need the Brazilian.

Nabil Fekir came within inches of arriving at Anfield last summer, but for a deal to break down – The Telegraph revealed that the Frenchman was the player Liverpool ‘want’ to fill the No.10 role vacated by Coutinho.

Seeing as they still haven’t signed a player to do this, we could suggest that the Merseysiders are still looking for this player – there would be no better Coutinho replacement than the man himself.

When used properly, the 27-year-old remains an extremely effective attacker, shown by his two goals and one assist at the Copa America this summer in just six games when played in his favoured No.10 role behind the striker.

Liverpool’s midfield is fairly workmanlike right now with midfield stalwarts such as Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho and Gini Wijnaldum starting most weeks, so the need for a creative source is a great one.

Forgetting past events, Liverpool should re-sign Coutinho purely for footballing reasons.

Jordi Osei-Tutu posts defiant Instagram message after suffering racist abuse

[ad_pod ]

It’s 2019 and football is still being plagued by racism.

Any form of racial abuse, or abuse of any other kind for that matter, definitely has no place in the modern society, yet it continues to persist in football.

But for all the world’s efforts to abolish it, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Arsenal’s young star-in-making currently playing his football at German second-tier side Vfl Bochum, has unfortunately been the latest victim of said discrimination.

According to the Mirror’s latest report, the 20-year-old defender was racially abused and left in tears during the game against Swiss side St Gallen on Tuesday.

The Bochum loanee has taken to

Alex Iwobi and Jadon Sancho were among the first superstars to reply to his snap. The Borussia Dortmund ace told the youngster that he should never stop while his Arsenal colleague shared a couple of emojis for support.

There were many others, mostly Arsenal youngsters, who did the same as the footballing world united behind Osei-Tutu.

Newcastle fans divided by Charlie Austin links

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Newcastle fans are reacting to the latest striker links, as the Magpies have been offered the chance to sign Charlie Austin.

The Shields Gazette claim that Newcastle are set to go on somewhat of a spending spree after the capture of Joelinton, targeting a winger, left-back and striker.

Of course, the departures of Joselu, Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez mean the Magpies are short of options up front even after Joelinton’s arrival on Tuesday.

And, according to The Chronicle, they have been offered the chance to sign Austin from Southampton.

The report says the 30 year-old’s situation with the Saints is “clear-cut” after a fallout with boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, but he is “only one name on a lengthy list” of targets that Steve Bruce and Lee Charnley are going through.

Fans have been discussing the move, and it seems a pretty even split.

Some obviously remember that epic 2014/15 campaign, when he scored 18 Premier League goals for a rather poor QPR side, while others are concerned about moving for a player who scored just twice in 25 league showings last term.

Crystal Palace fans expecting Alexander Sorloth exit after latest pre-season game

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Crystal Palace fans on Twitter are expecting striker Alexander Sorloth to leave the club after he was left out of the squad to face AFC Wimbledon in a pre-season clash at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday night.

The Norway international has been a regular fixture in the squad for the Eagles’ pre-season fixtures to date, but there was no sign of him in south west London with rumours of an exit for the 23-year-old persisting in recent days.

A report in The Daily Mail on Monday said that Palace are trying to use the centre-forward as a makeweight in a deal to bring Brentford attacker Ollie Watkins to Selhurst Park, which would be of little surprise given how Sorloth’s career in red and blue has gone to date.

No goals in 16 Premier League appearances and a loan spell away with Gent during the second half of the 2018/19 campaign tells you all you need to know, with the £9m move simply not working out for either side.

His absence from the travelling party on Tuesday has left many Eagles supporters in no doubt that he is on the verge of an exit, with some also mentioning the mooted Watkins deal in their comments.

Norwich City: Canaries hoping to agree fee for Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes

Norwich City are hoping to agree on a fee with Sheffield Wednesday for striker Jordan Rhodes, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

[ad_pod ]

The Yorkshire club are hoping to fetch a sizable fee for the Scotland international, though £4m is thought to be a reasonable compromise, according to Nixon.

Rhodes was an unused substitute as Sheffield Wednesday opened the new Championship season with a 3-1 win over Reading.

Links with the Sheffield Wednesday man fail to go away, with the Canaries having been linked with a move for the 29-year-old last week. Rhodes was on loan with Norwich City last season, making more than 30 appearances as the Norfolk club won promotion to the Premier League. The striker managed to score nine goals in England’s second tier.

However, Norwich City seemed to have filled the void left by Rhodes who returned to Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with the acquisition of Josip Drmic from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Switzerland international seems to have hit the ground running as he notched up a ‘perfect’ hat-trick in the pre-season friendly against Luton Town.

The Norfolk club have also added Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts on loan, adding depth to the squad ahead of the new season.

Ultimately, with the signings of both Drmic and Roberts, Norwich City have two players in each attacking position of the 4-2-3-1 formation Farke prefers. The squad has the depth required to try and avoid relegation this upcoming season, making a move for Rhodes pointless.

Norwich fans, does Farke need Rhodes for the 2019/20 campaign? Comment below!

Tottenham fans discuss the club not giving up on Christian Eriksen’s contract renewal

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the news that the club aren’t planning to give up on the idea of Christian Eriksen signing a new contract.

The Denmark international has just one year remaining on his deal with the north Londoners, and reportedly wants to leave the club with the European transfer window still open until September 2nd.

Eriksen was believed to have held talks with Manchester United before the transfer deadline on the 8th August, although no such move materialised – Spurs will lose the 27-year-old for free next summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

The former Ajax man changed the game in just 26 minutes after coming on against Aston Villa, helping turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 victory whilst playing a key role in the equaliser with a devilish delivery.

Let’s see how the Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to the news that the club aren’t giving up on the 5 foot 11 man’s contract situation…
